Texting in AE-Connect (School Guide)

Overview

AE-Connect offers the capability for parents and staff to opt-in to receive text messages and notifications in compliance with federal guidelines. Parents and staff are required to opt-in to this service.

Parents have two options for opting in: the preferred method is through the Parent Portal, which allows them to register to receive emails and notifications via text. The alternative method is through a signup form, which only enables parents to receive notifications for emails. Due to federal guidelines we cannot allow any exceptions with this signup method.

Staff members can sign up via the Staff account page. School administrators have the option to sign up staff members to receive messages, but it is recommended that staff members sign up on their own. We have allowed this exception due to staff working at the school and expecting to receive texts from the school they are employed at.

Parents Signing up

Parents have two options for signing up to receive text messages from AE-Connect. Due to federal guidelines we cannot allow any exceptions with this signup method.

Parent Portal Sign up

Parents should log into the Parent Portal and update their user profile to select the text notification preferences. They can choose to opt-in to receive messages (emails) and notifications via text. Once the parent selects their preferences and saves, they will need to confirm their choice through a pop-up and then a confirmation text will be sent to them. The parent must respond with YES to the text in order to start receiving messages.


PARENTS MUST EACH HAVE A UNIQUE NUMBER. PARENTS CANNOT SHARE NUMBERS IN THE CELL PHONE SECTION.

Parent Portal Home Screen

Notifications are by student in the Parent Portal. Parents will need to select the student and activate notifications for the student, then save and proceed to select the next student and edit the profile to enable text notifications for the other student. This process should be repeated for all students for whom the parent is responsible.

Staffs Signing up

Staff members have three ways to sign up to receive text emails from the school.

  1. Staff Member can sign up via the Staff account page in AE-Connect.
  2. School administrators have the option to sign up staff members to receive messages, but it is recommended that staff members sign up on their own.
    1. Please let staff know they will receive a text message they must reply YES to if you use the method.
  3. The Staff can use the sign up form to sign up themselves without having access to staff in AE-Connect. Sign up to receive Text Messages emails form AE-Connect.

We have allowed this exception due to staff working at the school and expecting to receive texts from the school they are employed at.
