Message Languages Translation

AE-Connect has updated messages to enable users to translate messages into 10 languages.

  • Portuguese
  • French
  • Haitian Creole
  • Hmong
  • Burmese
  • Korean
  • Ukrainian
  • Russian
  • Chinese

Translated messages will be sent to the respective parents based on the parent’s preferred language. Translated messages are sent only to Parents. Students and Staff will continue to receive English-only messages.

⚠️ Translated messages will only be sent to parents in their preferred language IF

  • The parents have their preferred language as one of the languages listed above.
  • The messages were translated via the messaging dialog in the parent's preferred language.

If both conditions are not met the parent will get the message in English only.

Description

Users who want to translate messages for the parent’s preferred language will navigate to Messages and create a new message.  For more details on Messages, please refer to this guide: Getting to Know Messaging.

The user should type the message normally into the subject and content sections of the Messages dialog.    When the user is done typing their message, they can select +Add Language.  The user can then select the language they want the messages translated to. The message will automatically translate to the chosen language.  Messages can be translated into the languages listed above.

The user can also manually translate the message by using the Translate from English button at the bottom of the dialog if they update the message after it was translated.

When the user is happy with the messages, they can send them.

How to Update Parent Preferred Language

Parent accounts have a preferred language.  Parents can choose their own preferred language in Parent portal or the school can choose the preferred language for parents.  Parents who have a preferred language that is include in the list of translated languages will received the translated language in their preferred language.

School view parent preferred language is at bottom of parent record under options. Edit Parent/Guardian

Replying In Messages

Parents can reply to messages in their preferred languages via the Parent Portal.  The school user is able to translate the message  back to English.


School users can reply to the parent messages via the staff portal and translate the message to the parent's preferred language.
